Cardamom Restaurant
Leading out of Cardiff along Cowbridge Road East, just as you think you’re unlikely to see anything else of much note, you’ll stumble across Cardamom. An unassuming Indian restaurant, Cardamom is nonetheless a stylish alternative to the swathes of overpowering flock wallpaper elsewhere. Here you’re more likely to find sleek wooden floors and simple cream walls hung with bold art works. It’s no surprise that Cardamom’s an award winner – taking an Echo Food and Drink Award in 2004 and being named Welsh Curry House of the Year 2007 – because the food is a delight. Offering typical Tandoori dishes plus a raft of mouthwatering specialities it’s no wonder this is Cardiff’s A-list curry house.

Garcon! Brasserie Francaise
Garçon! Brasserie Française restaurant, situated on Cardiff’s marvellously regenerated Mermaid Quay near Techniquest and the National Assembly, is the closest thing you can have to a real French dining experience without catching a ferry to Cherbourg. If you already love Le Gallois, then you’ll be delighted to find that Garçon! is its younger sibling, each just as authentically Gallic and charming as the other. The concept is simple: French cuisine, French décor, French service. We’re talking traditional brasserie décor complete with Thonet bentwood chairs, long mirrored walls and stripped wooden floors, typically French service by French expats and, naturellement, classical French cuisine. Garçon!’s extensive menu includes rustic winter warmers, flavoursome bistro snacks and platters to share, from steak tartare with frites to croque monsieur. With a special menu pour les enfants and an indulgent wine list a visit to Garcon! is très bon for all the family and friends.
