Elements Restaurant
Situated in the four star Novotel Cardiff Centre hotel in Atlantic Wharf, Elements Restaurant is a stylish venue offering super-friendly service and a top modern European menu. The dining room – with exposed brick walls, cherry red, sky blue and chocolate brown leather banquettes and contemporary Rothko-esque artworks – has a cosmopolitan vibe and is popular with a vibrant local crowd. Items on the menu can be ordered in taster, starter or main course size, and we love the terriyaki chicken noodles and Thai green chicken curry as well as old favourites such as the sirloin steak served with chunky chips and a side salad. The restaurant also has a lovely lounge bar for pre/post dinner drinks.

Patagonia
Take a wander along Cowbridge Road East out of Cardiff city centre, take a sharp left and you’ll find yourself in Patagonia. Sorry, at Patagonia. Not quite the harsh plateaus of deepest South America, this is a relaxed, family friendly restaurant with infinitely more warmth and slightly fewer penguins in residence. Operating as coffee shop through the day and restaurant at night, at Patagonia you’ll find yourself treated to some serious comfort food from trad British breakfasts to delicious lunches to a concise menu of beautifully prepared and considered dinner dishes with a rustic feel. Don’t miss out on glorious homemade desserts either.

Raglans Restaurant
Raglans Restaurant in Cardiff’s Copthorne Hotel just four miles from the city centre is one of Cardiff’s undiscovered gems. The award-winning Raglans – AA rosette – is a rare beast in these parts, a fine-dining restaurant featuring local Welsh produce to create innovative dishes with Welsh flavour. Daily specials make the most of fresh, seasonal ingredients. The setting is terrific, too, an elegant, wood-paneled space with traditional décor, crisp table linens, and comfortable seating with views over a lake, yet not five minutes from the M4. The hotel also offers brilliant theatre dining. You enjoy a live musical show and three-course meal for one reasonable price.
